  1. What is the agenda for the Single 2 Mingle event?

The specific Single 2 Mingle event agenda will be supplied to you during the event. The agenda includes various activities that encourage all participant to interact and mingle to learn more about each other, and create lasting friendships.

The general agenda is as follows:

FRIDAY NIGHT:  Once the attendees register on Friday, there is an evening reception on the patio at the hotel, where attendees can meet casually and get to know each other. Light music and food is provided.

SATURDAY:  Saturday morning will begin with breakfast.  After breakfast, the attendees will go to their assigned tables. The program will begin with introduction of each attendee at their table.  The rest of the day will include variety of activities. Saturday evening, we’ll bus all attendees to downtown Chicago for the cruise.

SUNDAY: Sunday will begin with breakfast and more planned activities. The event will formally conclude in mid-afternoon. We may plan informal activities for Sunday evening and Monday based on attendee interest. These activities will be informal and not part of the formal event.

  1. When is the Single 2 Mingle event starting and ending?  

The registration begins on Friday, June 30th, from 6:00 PM onward, followed by a casual mixer event. You’re highly encouraged to arrive on Friday night, as meeting your fellow attendees casually will be the best to start of the fun-filled weekend.

The official program begins on Saturday morning. The program ends on Sunday afternoon. However, you’re welcome to stay and enjoy sights of Chicago during the long weekend. We may plan additional activities based on number of people that are planning to stay back for the long weekend. If there is enough interest, we’ll communicate that further closer to the event.

  1. When does event registration begins?

We urge you to come early on Friday June 30th by 6:00 PM to register and obtain a registration kit. Please be sure to bring a government issued photo ID to confirm registration. The kit will have the following information: Your badge and wrist band (which should be worn at all times), seating assignment, and a Single 2 Mingle 2017 Directory. Please do not lose your Single 2 Mingle Directory – and please do not leave it around. We will not be responsible for lost directories.

Recommendation: Please put your name on multiple pages of the directory – including the first page.

If for any reason, you end-up not attending the event, a directory will be mailed to you after the event. If you chose to have an attending event member pick up the directory on your behalf, we will require authorization in writing from you.

Please be advised that you will be required to sign a general Brahma Samaj of Greater Chicago Convention Release of Liability waiver at point of check in. This waiver must be signed off before you will be allowed on the Single 2 Mingle Cruise.

  1. What does the registration fee include?

The registration fee includes entrance for the events and activities, Friday night welcoming mixer with light food, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sunday breakfast and lunch. And a firework cruise on Lake Michigan. Your fee also covers the venue rental, promotion for the event, and all other activities surrounding the launch and management of the event.  The fee DOES NOT include hotel room cost or transportation to/from airport.

  1. Where is the time and place for the event?

The event will be held from June 30th till July 2nd, 2017 at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, located at 700 National Parkway, Schaumburg, IL 60173.

  1. How do I book the hotel?

We have secured a special discount rate for the Fairfield hotel. You can book the hotel directly via calling them at 847-541-3347 and mentioning the “Single 2 Mingle” event. You can book directly on the web through this link – http://tinyurl.com/m6f2g5d. The booking code is valid from June 30th till July 3rd.  You’re not required to stay at the hotel, but because we’ll be arriving quite late form the cruise on Saturday night, we highly encourage you to stay at the hotel.

  1. Do you provide transportation?

Transportation arrangements have to be made by the attendees. There are two airports in Chicago, Midway and O’Hare. O’Hare is closer to the hotel, about 20-25 minutes, compared to Midway Airport, which is about 45 minutes away. There is public transportation available, but It’s quite long and cumbersome. We encourage you to take Shuttles or regular taxi, Uber or Lyft from the airport to arrive at the hotel.

  1. Can parents/other family members come?

We understand the desire for parents to want to accompany, but only registered attendees will be allowed inside the event hall.  If parents choose to come, there are several activities around town that they can do on their own. Parents can visit Indian Stores, Woodfield Mall, Swaminarayan Mandir, Chicago city etc.  We can arrange for paid meal services for parents in the hotel if they decide to come; please notify us in advance to make arrangements.

The rule is: if you are not a Single 2 Mingle event attendee, you will not be able to participate in or observe the activities intended for attendees. This is done to ensure that attendees have the freedom and comfort to mingle, get to know each other, and most importantly, be themselves with each other.

 

  1. What’s your success rate?

Throughout the years, we’ve had several couples that have been married after meeting at the event. Some of the couples currently help us in various aspects of the program. We provide a platform for people to meet, the success is based on the attendees taking advantage of meeting a large number of people in one place and taking those relationships and friendships further.

  1. How do I learn more about the event attendees?

A directory containing information on all attendees will be provided to you at the time of registration.

All the key information about all attendees for the event will be included, along with their photograph. The information resembles what you’re including about yourself in the web registration.

The deadline to be include in the directory is June 15th, any attendees registering after the date may be included via addendum, but their formal profile may not be in the published directory.

If you have registered but are not attending, then your Single 2 Mingle Directory, including the addendum, will be mailed to you.

Information about attendees will not be provided prior to the event under any circumstances.

  1. Is everyone from Chicago?

Our convention is open to all attendees from the USA and abroad. In the past, we have attendees that have participated from all corners of the US, Canada, Europe, India and more.

  1. What’s the average age of the attendees?

Based on prior years, generally the attendees range from age 21-42.

  1. How many and what type of people will attend?

During the last event in 2014, we had 125 attendees. We will limit the attendees to this amount as well, and the registration will close once we reach this number.

  1. What is the dress code for the event?

Ladies:

From morning to evening: Please wear formal yet comfortable outfits. Please note that almost all of the female attendees wear formal Indian outfits such as saris, lenghas, cholis, and heavy punjabi dresses. For Friday night mixer, be casual and comfortable in your western attire.

Gentlemen:

From morning to evening: Please wear formal outfits. Suites, Jackets and tie or formal Indian outfits are highly recommended. For Friday night mixer, be casual and comfortable in your western attire.

Cruise attire:

Wear appropriate attire that is casual evening equipped for a night out in the town. It does get a little chilly out on the lake so please dress accordingly. You might be out on the deck of the ship enjoying the view. Ladies, bring a light sweater if you would like.

Overall, put your best foot forward. Your first impression is extremely important. You should wear outfits that project your best image. Don’t try to be someone else. Dress accordingly.

Casual includes khaki pants, dress pants, polo shirts, shirts, skirts, dresses, Punjabi dress, etc.). Please no shorts, spaghetti straps, flip-flops, or T-shirts on any days.

  1. Do I need to bring anything or prepare anything?

In reality, you don’t need to bring anything. But if you wish, you can bring business cards, horoscopes (if you believe in it), positive attitude and an open mind. Come with an attitude to meet many people and make Friends. This will be an event that you will never forget.

An attendee should prepare a one-minute introduction about himself or herself.  Introduction topics could include: Name, Age, Location, Work, Hobbies, Likes, Sports, Books, Movies, Future goals/plans.  Selected questions will be provided.

  1. How do I act/where will i sit during the event?

What if I like someone but I am afraid to approach him/her? We will have some great volunteers / matchmakers who will help you make the introduction. Simply ask a volunteer to help you make an introduction to the person. Will I be required to go on stage? You will not be required to go on stage for introduction, we will come to each table and you simply stand while introducing yourself.

Do I have to attend and participate in all the activities planned for us? It is not mandatory for you to attend or participate in the activities planned (as outlined in the agenda, which will be provided to you when the event is closer). But, we strongly urge you to do so. Participation will be the only way that you will be able to meet others and get to know them. Please leave your fears behind. We have some great things planned for you.

Where will I sit? All Single 2 Mingle attendees will be assigned table numbers. They will be listed in your registration kit. Please note that no parents will be allowed to sit in with you. There will be no table switching allowed. Also, if you are coming to Single 2 Mingle with your siblings or friends, and want to sit with them, we urge you NOT TO DO SO and will NOT allow any switching.

The purpose of this event is to meet new people, make new friends and get to know someone new. Please respect this rule as it is there to benefit you.

During breakfast/lunch and dinner you will not be required to sit at your assigned seats. This is the time for you to sit with your family/friends or whomever you like.

  1. Is there any security?

The Hotel and the cruise will be a safe place, however, BSGC and its organizers or trustees do not take any responsibility for lost or stolen items. Please be careful and keep your wallets, purses and valuables close to you.

  1. Will there be any alcohol at the event venue?

Inside the event hall, all drinks are non-alcoholic and all food is vegetarian. Attendees may purchase alcohol at their will on the Cruise, and it’s not included in the registration fees. Any intoxication is strictly prohibited.

  1. Is the cruise optional?

Yes, there are now different pricing options depending if you would like to join the cruises or choose to opt out of the cruise. The cruise is an integral part of the event and we would highly recommend you joining the cruise.

        20. What if BSGC had to cancel this event?

Due to unforeseen circumstances if BSGC had to cancel this entire event, BSGC will refund the cost of the registration for the event. BSGC will not be responsible nor liable for any other costs or expenses incurred by the candidates registered for this event.  All Rights Reserved by BSGC.
